The Observatory is dedicated to the so-called post-conceptual Figuration, an artistic phenomenon that emerged in Spain in the early 1970s with the aim of regenerating figurative painting from the perspective of their personal poetics.
OFP is an instrument for the internationalization of this phenomenon through the dissemination of information, disclosure of contents, and promoting research.
This project is based on research carried out by Paco de la Torre for his Doctoral Thesis Post-conceptual Figuration. Spanish Painting: New Madrileña Figuration to Neo-metaphysics (1970-2010) defended at the Polytechnic University of Valencia in 2012.
OFP is an initiative promoted by the Association of Cultural Tradition and the avant-garde and its implementation has been aided by the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport.
The contents presented in this observatory can be accessed free of charge.
OFP is divided into various sections where the following files are gathered:
— Information about the Observatory and the Conceptual Figuration.
— A record for activities related to the phenomenon.
— Archives of related artists.
— Catalogue of Representative Works.
— Documentation of program exhibitions.
— Library of publications and texts.
